Betting at the Gold Coast and Hawkesbury this week. They don't have much in common but they can both be leadery. The day that the wonder horse won at the Goldie it was impossible to come from behind and Hawkesbury has made Caulfield look fair recently.
They also say about the Goldie that you need to stick with a local jockey. Well Paul Hammersley in particular.
Unfortunately there are virtually no dead set leaders, in form ones that is, at either track. And Hammersley's only obvious chance is on PUNCH ON who has everything in his favour other than a million runners in the race and a wide draw. 16/1 seems fair, each way against Easy Running that will probably win.
The TAB, god bless them put WAZN up at $31. It's $10. That's what they should have opened at in the first place. Tough race.
MAWINGO runs in FORETELLER's race but so do some of the best horses in training. Later, MARDEN and MORIARTY are in the same race. Thanks Chris. And the bloke from Sports Tab says they've taken $1k bets on each. (Is that news? $1k?)
The best logical bet of the day is Snowden's first starter ACADEMUS. It's well reported that Darley often put one of their toppies in this race prior to a raid on Qld. And MENTAL will surely win, as will LANDING.
If leaders a winning early, my speed maps throw up the following winners based on mainly pace and a bit of form. That is, I've weeded out the fast horses that cant win and left in the Zaratones...

But they are all easily opposable on a difficult day.
My Bet of the day, on a fiendishly difficult afternoon is a horse named a little bit after an old song written by a man called Gordon Sumner. He got his more famous nickname from wearing a stripey yellow and black jumper. Can you see who it is yet?
This horse was an absolute blackbooker last time in Brissy and is priced at $16. Can definitely go one better in a similar race. Gold Coast Race 6. Altogether now in a high pitched blond haired Georgie scream....
