so when we started this, largely as a kick back against those tiresome horse racing forums that increasingly seem to consist of people with silly online aliases arguing with one another, we all agreed that we wouldn't give out tips. We don't even know when our own horses are going to win, let alone someone else's.
Apart from which, there's loads of pro punters out there. Have a read of Dan's post about Twitter. Even Gai Waterhouse is tweeting today about this weekends runners. And a very informative tweet it is...
But I digress. Our first tip was December Draw at $8 (if only we had believed just how EASY it would win...he could indeed be the new Speed Gifted!) and then in midweek we tipped Mayneda Strategy at $4.50.
I admit we were also equally keen on Contract Caterer last week, who didn't win but put in another flashing run for third. He's up to 2000m this weekend but although he's a pom, it's a worry that he didn't go an inch first up in the Randwick bog.
Who knows what the track will be like Saturday? Heavy obviously, but how heavy? Waller must think he can handle it and we're nibbling again. Sadly the value left days ago, someone god knows who got $9. Not Centrebet customers, as they opened at $4.60! Anyhow, he's on the short list again.
But for what might be our third winning non-tip in a row, we turn to Doomben and have picked a Welsh horse. (I know, we can't help it!)
CARIAD is Welsh for "darling" and we love her. She was finishing well last week over the shorter distance and with a great draw and a hot speed, she's also got the benefit of a certain Jim Byrne on top. It's a tough, tough race but hey! we're on fire. Take the $16 on offer for a juicy each way end to a difficult day for the punters.
