Its been fascinating the last few days to hear the comparison of prize money between Here and the UK. Fascinating and a bit bizarre since I spent the first twenty years of my adult life as a punter, including many trips to the races, yet never considered buying into a horse because it just seemed to cost too much.
With over a decade of living here in paradise under my belt, I've almost lost count of the horses we've owned bits of. To be frank, with the exception of the current worldbeater and dear old Xaar Xaar, they are a pretty forgettable bunch, more's the pity. But if you do get a good one, the money's good. Whether it's an easy $10k on the all weather or a nicer $40k for a Saturday winner in Brisbane, the numbers do stack up.
(Pauses for breath)...
Which brings me to my point. Why on earth is MOTOWN LADY running in Wednesday class tomorrow? I was gobsmacked when we got $5 when she won well a few weeks ago on a Wednesday, now blow me down if she's not back, this time up to a class 6. To be honest, it looks a tougher race and she's drawn bad. The $3 that the SP guys are predicting looks no value.
Go on, you can win now....
