Talking through the pocket...

Regular readers won't be surprised to hear that we had a good ante post double running on Glass Harmonium into you know who yesterday. Most people I have spoken to did. All the professionals we follow rated GH as a moral. Ridden properly that is...and after the way Free Wheeling er "freewheeled" down the straight winning last time, the punting game seemed easy.

So. NOT Denied a fair start. Like many of you I was watching the stewards summary live on Sky Racing World. Can't say that the spokesperson of the stewards was the most confident sounding official I've come across and now we're astounded to hear that they didn't bother to look at the slow motion replay. Excuse me? In a world where NRL and Union refs are petrified to make any decision without going "upstairs"...how can that be?

The horse was vertical before the gates opened. The jockey was anything but in control. Bottom line, there can be no doubt that the decision was not a fair one. Rules of racing maybe but not a fair decision and one where nobody, least of all the honest punter and racegoer benefitted. If that's what the rules of racing are meant to do? Well I'll pass on that, thanks for listening.

I hear the horse is well, some cuts and bruises but otherwise okay and headed for a spell. In the usually excellent coverage yesterday, that's the one bit of detail that Bernie and Radley missed.

Best wishes to all cnnections, here's to next time...
