After last week's excitement, seems a bit of an inbetweener this week and unusually for me, late in the evening Friday and I'm still staring blankly at the form for most of the races tomorrow, even the one our boy is running in.
If I get to Doomben early, I do like PRETTY PINS in the first, but I get the feeling many other people do, so not likely to get the $4 we are looking for. I'm also interested in BOOTOOLOO but will probably have my mind on other things by then.
The standout bet for me tomorrow is a horse I have tipped before. I've been watching the Friday night racing at Canterbury and as part of the form for Dal Rommel, got the chance to watch that last run by MARDEN again. The phrase "wall of horses" has never been more appropriate for what was not exactly Hugh Bowman's best ride ever. MARDEN is a stayer in the making and I'm sure if Richie was commentating, he'd say that he loomed large and looked like he was going to get the choccies/bikkies but found himself behind a wall of horses, good thing beat, blackbooker...choose your own cliche.
Bottom line is this. A talented ex pom horse trained by Waller and getting the distance he wants. We think he could be worth following. $4.60 isn't generous, but he should win.
As might WOORIM. Someone at the TAB went up $8.60 about this bloke. It lasted about five minutes as he was crunched right into a more realistic $5. No value, but pop them in with the Wonder Horse and there's our daily treble right there.
Hilarious activity on Twitter the other night as people were counting the number of times Alf Matthews said "As far as I am concerned" on the Form Line. I counted fifteen. Boy that show misses the Duff when he's not there.
Good punting. Go Wales. One step closer...
