For the record, I, like probably every form watcher in Sydney will be on CC next time. Heavens above, I even bet the Duff will tip him and we will be lucky to get even, let alone drink in the beauty of a double figure price. Perhaps Blind Freddie who does the fixed odds at the TAB will miss him again...
It's galoshing it down in Sydney. Shame, I was looking forward to breaking 80 again. Looks like it'll be a test of golf or no golf at all. There's racing on of course and normally I would be jumping for joy at a heavy 11 for a weekend meeting.
But sadly, having just exhaustively run the TB Fish rule over the runners tomorrow, not one single horse at the Farm qualifies as what Callendar calls a swimmer. There's no doubt it will be as wet as a very wet thing, but nothing stands out. Sorry. Might have another look to be sure, but as for now....
The Cup is a terrible punting race. For the unusual reason that there are a number, two possibly three absolute stand out chances. Not including Legsman and Permit, both of whom are well in the market and could win. Not that I think they will...
WAZN, YULALONA and KONITIKI PARK are all favourites, but we'll leave Gai's horse out because firstly a step up to 2400 in a heavy 27 is tough, but also because the times they ran when he won on the Goldie were slower than the winning times in the race won by Topping a week before. Not that I have a vested interest or any joy in typing that last beautiful sentence, not at all...slower than the time ran by Topping mmm.....
WAZN ran three wide for most of the race against albert the other week and YULALONA has slightly superior wet form. Loved the way that WAZN finished off that day.
I've long held that WAZN may be one out of the box. And I'm assuming that any horse with the letters IRE after its name in the racebook will not exactly hate the rain. But maybe standing the two out in some form of exotic may be the go.
Can someone stop the rain now please....
