Born Slippy

Moriarty ran a great race for us and hopefully everyone took the each way option which paid a surprising $4.30. Nice. He may win another race soon, think the one that beat him might be above average. In fact, the trainer will probably tell you he will win the Cox Plate. What is she like...

Tomorrow is Slipper Day. It's a classic Slipper. Samaready may be top drawer. All of Gai's are going super. Or so she was telling someone on the radio today. Don't remember a race where so many trainers are so bullish (about so many of their runners!). The two Snowden horses are hard to knock and Epaulette could easily blouse them. And I may not have mentioned the winner yet.

In betting terms, you simply cannot take the $2.50 about the favourite with such huge place odds about other runners. There's stories of huge bets...$35k on Ashokan, $$ on Faustus at 100/1, and on and on. Can't be connections...why would you have a punt when you are running for $3m in prize money? The joy of racing.

I'm attracted by the each way chances of the Snowden horse NARCISSUS and the fast finishing CAVALRY ROSE. I know that Ichihara isn't here which might be a knock on last week's form, but the times were good and just think from a smart stable she might be the one. $31 helps. Small bets...

Elsewhere on the card, MORE JOYOUS, MOSHEEN and AMERICAIN will probably win. Not with any of my money though. Streama, Kings Rose and Manighar are all too good to oppose for odds on chances.

It's not a day for huge bets, but if we can get one of our fancies up, we'll make a profit.

In the first, I really like TOYDINI from Guy Walters yard. She was possibly unlucky at her racing debut running second at Hawkesbury in a race she could have won and didn't look fully wound up for. At a track where form can be iffy. She'll be fitter for that learning experience and the smarties that got the $13 are laughing now that she is in to as little at $7. Mind you, there's also a huge push for the Darley horse. Money talks, but god knows why on known form...

Tony Gollan has said that TEMPLE OF BOOM prefers the wet, but he's very well placed here. Especially as he's from Toowoomba and the NSW prize money hasn't gone up yet...Group one form behind BC and HL perhaps suggests that this may have been the target all along? H Bowman to ride. Hello? Each way bet of the day. And to add some spice, e/w double him into...

our old favourite WOORIM. He is in the George Ryder and on Wednesday some myopic expert put him up at $41. I missed that but was delighted to take $26, especially doubled up for a place with TOB. Damien Browne rides and with pace a plenty from the out of form King Mufasa and the probably outclassed Niagara, watch for a withering Woorim special flying home down the stands rails. One run, one win at this distance. 5th in the Newmarket don't read too bad either...

Apart from all that, we will be playing safe. The Tulloch for me is an interesting chance to lay Gai's new superstar and if Rekindled gets out to 3's or better, get on. But as for the odds on chances, I will indeed be looking on.

And of course in Brisbane, our favourite horse CARIAD looks terrifically placed in the Listed 1200 meter race. Risk Aversion will be short priced and hard to beat, but our girl lost nothing in losing to Nolan's best horse in the Weetwood where she wobbled a bit up the Toowoomba hill after being given too much to do. The wide open spaces of The Farm suits and Cooksley knows his stuff. Plus he's a great trainer that Gollan fellow. Take the each way $8 about the darling of the racetrack, CARIAD. It's Welsh you know...

Great day ahead and need the discipline of remembering to back everything each way, there'll be some good place divvies all day. Let's hope it's not all spoilt by leadery tracks that will stop all of my picks stone dead. Check out the excellent free speed maps on the Racing and Sports website if any track gets leadery...like Caulfield inevitably will!

Bet with what you can afford. Enjoy. Oh and Follow me on twitter. It's a great way to get ahead of the pack and to share with some of the smartest minds in the business. HAPPY EASTER!
