Well sometime Wednesday afternoon to be honest and seemingly at the time when most of us are at work, so no, despite going to the TAB at lunchtime to check, we did not get the staggering $19 on offer about TEMPLE OF BOOM running on a heavy 10 at HQ
Truth is, when I first saw that $10 was available, I saw that as good overs. The race is full of mudlarks and Nobby Snip is no slouch, but we rated TOB a $7/8 chance. So 10/1 looked like a 25% gift. As I said to the Duff in Twitterland, $19 was ridiculous.
As is $26 about SEVILLE. I know that I focus on the imports but without sounding like those oafs that advertise on the otherwise excellent Saturday preview, here's why. And I guarantee every word of this is true...much of it is in the pages of this blog..l
We backed Speed Gifted first up at $16.
We backed December Draw first up at $22.
We backed Contract Caterer again and again and again...oh hang on...
We did indeed have FIVE DOLLARS EACH WAY on My Kingdom of Fife at $141 and $41 the place.
Foreteller, Mawingo and Wazn have all added to the pot at 5/1 or so.
We also backed (ahem) London Stripe, Buccelati, Moriarty, with the same excitement that we will back SEVILLE on Saturday.
You read the form. Only one win, but good Group form at the Curragh, Longchamp....
He's in a 1400m race at Caulfield. Fit and in a similar field at Flemington over 1800' he'd be a 7/4 shot. Even if you only take the place price of $6...
It's mudlark time at the Royal Randwick boating lake and I've applied the TB Fish model to every race and found the following mudlarks that are in form and silly prices.
DANCE WITH HER 10/1 in places. Great wet wins. Loves swimming.
SCORPIO QUEEN 31/1. But $61 with Centerbet. Waller, likes it sopping wet.
