It's still raining in Sydney and it's late Tuesday night. So it's a fair bet that if they do race at Canterbury tomorrow, it'll be a heavy 18 at least. That can make things a lottery but then again, it might be worth having a look at the from from the last time it was sopping wet here...ie a few weeks ago!
I really like WAZN. He was also declared for Saturday, so may not run here, but I guess we could read that if he does, then a) he obviously likes the wet and b) likes this race. Lots to like about him first time up, was it the firmer ground that was his undoing the next time? Or maybe you can't win them all. In Wednesday grade, I'd have rated WAZN a £3.20 chance, or something like that. $5 is a great price and we're on.
Since we're into the form book, you just have to take a look at another Waller import, TITBIT who the TAB currently rate a $21 shot. Formerly trained by a certain Henry Cecil, TITBIT has wins at this distance under his belt and this is another 300 metres further than he has tried since being down under. Stewards reported that things didn't go so good last time in similar grade but at the price, isn't it reasonable to assume that the distance and likely treacherous going are likely to be positives for a UK import? At $21? We think so.
Looking forward already to a great weekend. We're all waiting to see which horse the stable jock chooses (Free Wheeling, surely) and after last week reckon that the Welsh horse (who has been doubly declared) will give a sight at good odds.
Only five declared for the Eagle Farm Cup (is that the right name?) Lisa Cropp preferred to Bowman on Glass Harmonium? Hmm...Buckets of prize money on offer, tempted to get our boy out of the stable and have a go...
