To Flemington for my first non-carnival visit in a long time. Love the place but if I'm honest on Saturday it was all a bit bleak. Miles away from the ring on a day with poor races and not a great deal of raceday atmosphere. The ultimate dilemma I suppose, all that space and no elbow room on Cup day compared to putting on a standard Saturday meet with empty lawns and literally hundreds of empty seats on the winning line.
Nice lunch though...
The Dufficy legend continues. He tipped? tweeted? one horse this week from his holidays. It won the last in Brisbane paying $9. Duff tipped it at $23. My punting mate had a shedful on the $4.50 that Baldie offered on the place bet. How long can this go on? I know I should have told Duff not to give anything away free...mind you he could get a fair few bob now if he started charging for his best of the week...might give him a call...
Our favourite "what the" horse, MOTOWN LADY, who has run twice at Wednesday grade over 1600 for peanuts (or whatever the Qld equivalent is) rather than contesting the better Saturday races, is now declared for Saturday's Caloundra Cup. It's over 2400 metres at the Sunny coast. Ridiculous. We'll have to back it....
Best run of the weekend was that Waller import (where have I heard that before) ESCHOLIDO. Ran Peck very close and we know what people think of Peck. He'll win a race, possibly over further. We would take $5.
Also have to mention dear old CARIAD. Terrible draw getting the fence when she is an out and out swooper. Not a great ride...maybe she can do a Sincero and win easy next time? We're not giving up yet. As for CONTRACT CATERER? He's well and truly sacked.
Looking out for fixed odds value Wednesday. See you then and welcome to the new followers. Good to have you along.
