Post Melbourne Cup Syndrome

Oh dear. Just can't get too interested in the racing tomorrow. I'm not a fan of either the Sydney or Melbourne tracks, both of which favour home horses and apart from our obvious interest in the Brisbane handicap, that card isn't exactly making me rush to the TAB.

There's an interesting newcomer on Twitter who may be called "Gai's Lays" or something similar, well written and funny site, but specialises in tipping horses who cannot win. Maybe that's the way forward. Much easier than finding winners. No fun though...

I'm drawn to write about Racing Heart. The owners were very confident the day we spoke to them on that leadery day in Brisbane last month. Looks like being favourite again in what's a really disappointing prep. They'll be hoping Byrne does the job tomorrow, but we will not be taking the price. Racing's always tough when your horse is rubbish but strangely sometimes even tougher when you find one that shows signs of being really good. You can't win them all but doesn't stop you hoping that the next race is the one...

I like one winner and one quinella tomorrow. My tip of the day, in an awful stayers race is ALTONIO. $5 is easy money for a horse that was competitive against Lamasery last time.

My quinella is obvious. How can you split TITLE and SCARF? The Snowden horse is first up and in barrier one, but with a touch of class and presumably en route to the Villiers. Pride's horse has 61kg and ran at Hawkesbury last time. It was one of those classic Hawkesbury days where a special downhill section of the track was allocated for leaders just to make sure they could not be caught and he ran a gallant second to the runaway winner/leader/track specialist.

The two of them are a class above these. As St Etienne may be...but the scratching last week is a worry.

Good luck to the Scaaaaarlets tomorrow. Rhys Priestland, Franklyns Gardens...definitely worth getting up early for.
