I've tried most systems. Looking for course and distance form, horses down in class, all that stuff, so it's fitting in a New Year (best wishes to all by the way) that we have hit upon a new system that seems likely to fix all our punting woes.
Today, I backed two horses on the basis that we were watching Gavin & Stacey last night. Specifically, in a terrible maiden plate race in Adelaide, a horse called NESS was $61 fixed odds with the TAB. In a tight finish up the hill at Murray Bridge, she (he?) came home with a wet sail to win going away. And then, twenty minutes later when I had found a security firm to help me collect my winnings, blow me down if the top horse in the next race isn't called BRYNNE. It's Welsh for hill...
BRYNNE broke fast and was never headed to win a $6.20.
Ridiculously I spent the next twenty minutes looking for a horse called DAVE COACHES or STACEY. God knows how much I would have put on a horse called DAVE COACHES. But it wasn't to be. Thankfully. 1 day down in 2012 and we're in the black. Tidy.
Saturday was a great day on the punt, with the top two from the master tipster both saluting and dear CARIAD, despite a desperate ride, almost catching Michael Nolan's good horse at Toowoomba.
Shame that our boy's race was a no race and thoughts are with the connections of Secrets Untold. Terrifically sad and I hope that the idiot who works in PR at one of the biggest corporates regrets his shameful tweet minutes after the race. His apologies later did nothing to make good his dumb comments. Top marks to a few tweeters who put him right.
Have a feeling it's WAZN again tomorrow. Take the $4.40. And take a price on CONTRACT CATERER whilst you're at it...
Happy New Year and Good luck to all. The TipStars phone app is coming...
