That's a shame, Black Orchid has been scratched because of the heavy track tomorrow. It was interesting to see how many people picked up on the sibling theme, including some posters on the excellent Thoroughbred Village forum, but it wasn't to be. Blackbook that horse, she will win another race soon.
Brissy races has put Topping on top as well as the Winning Post. They all think he can stay better than the two fancied horses and gets weight from both of them. I agree. As for Carry Me Bluey, that Grafton race was a poor class $45k feature race. The only surprising thing was the fact he paid $4. Should have been odds on.
Munce has been saying that he's worried about Bluey who he has ridden many times. But he's stayed with Belltone who may be still on the improve. For mine, that track at Caloundra was so ridiculous biased (and Topping was the only horse all day to make ground on the inside going down to another Munce ride) that I'm just ignoring that form.
It's Topping for us. Take $15 now. He'll be single figures tomorrow for sure.
Elsewhere in Brisbane, so much depends on the track. Gerald Ryan's horse LE NIZAM is Irish bred and my notes on his first win at Hawkesbury in February said "too good". He was $1.45 that day and guess what led all the way. On the heavy. That was his fourth ever run and over 1500.
He's only won $25k to date but Tomorrow he is third up, drawn awfully but its a nothing 3yo handicap and he might run a race at the 34/1 on offer. Why else would he be here?
Really like STOUT HEARTED at any price tomorrow. Have taken the $4.50 after he sluiced home on a totally unsuitable surface and made ground on a day when no one else could. Yes, he's an import but the booking of Bowman just helps me think that Waller likes him. In fact Waller's only other horse in the race has no hope. Boxes ticked I'm saying.
Tiger will win the Open. Unless Luke or Rory do. If only they did trifectas. I'll be leaving Adam Scott out if that's alright with you...FORE LEFT!
